Our programming not only helps the children who are refugees/newcomers/at-risk, but the families as a whole. In many cases the children are from single-parent homes (many living in subsidized housing or government housing) or both parents are working and going to school as well, so they find it very difficult, especially during the summer months to find adequate care and supervision for their children. Therefore, many children are left in the care of older siblings. Our young teens are also especially vulnerable to be lured into gang activities; therefore we try to keep them involved with our summer and after-school programs to keep them away from the gangs and focused on their education and futures
Our youth enrichment program has unique approach to workforce readiness which prepares youth for success in their first jobs, volunteer, and helps them develop a plan to achieve their chosen careers. These programs help children/youth become responsible, caring citizens and acquire skills to participate in the community. Program participants also develop leadership skills and gain opportunities for work experiences

They children will have a lot of fun especially during Farm and Food Discovery trip. They will involve in making Ice cream, Butter, and learn about different types of cows. Also, they will be able to see new born at the farm.
For the newcomers kids’ visiting a zoo is an amazing, interactive and fun learning experience for kids of all ages

These ingredients are not unique to Neighbors Mission for Kids/Youth Enrichment Program Inc. only; any youth program focused on positive youth development can emphasize the same ingredients.
